About Rene Jourdan, LCPC
Hi, I am Rene Jourdan, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) specializing in therapy with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have experience with treating a variety of mental health symptoms and diagnoses and have been serving clients for over ten years. I believe in compassionate and empathetic therapeutic approaches which support individuals in their current situation, empowering them to become the person they want to be. My integrated approach to counseling is grounded in person-centered, polyvagal theory, narrative, cognitive behavioral, motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy (to name a few).
I have facilitated the provision of crisis services to individuals in northern Idaho via the crisis line for over five years. I specialize in working with adults who have significant mental health needs, suicide ideation, self-harm, as well as addiction, and comorbid diagnoses. I have supervised multiple programs; including, family and peer support, substance abuse treatment (for adolescents and adults), and interns working on becoming therapists. I enjoy group modalities and have facilitated multiple counseling groups including coping skills, mental health basics, and substance abuse treatment utilizing the Matrix model of addiction.
I recently opened a private practice (a year and a half ago) and have enjoyed providing mental health services in a rural area. I also have been working for an online counseling platform since 2020. Previously, I spent eight years as a therapist in a community mental health clinic. Historically, I was a licensed social worker; as well as, a case manager, CBRS provider, and an intern at the Department of Health and Welfare. I also ran a group home for adults with developmental disabilities for more than six years. I have always enjoyed helping others and giving back to my community.
I was born in Moscow, Idaho and raised in a small farming town. I grew up caring for animals, bucking hay, and believed strongly in hard work and “paying it forward.” I love nature and enjoy spending time swimming, camping, and making memories with family.
