Laurie Poston, LCPC

I am a passionate, caring and empathetic person who enjoys working with children and their families. I believe in letting children and adults unfold naturally in a therapeutic setting and believe that patience is the key to a successful therapeutic relationship. Prior to relocating to Idaho, I have spent 13 years in the PNW practicing as a child and family clinician in Alaska, Washington and Oregon. During my time in Alaska, I primarily worked with the native population in remote villages.

I have worked with children and youth who have experienced severe trauma histories and exhibit behavioral concerns which impact their home and school environments. My focus is to build and strengthen relationships among children and caregivers while implementing techniques that reduce difficult behaviors and increase children’s regulatory skills.

Additionally, I have worked with parents to strengthen bonds and support them in addressing their children’s needs and have done some Mental Health therapy work with adults. I am certified in: Trauma focus Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play and Sand therapy, CBT, DBT, ADHD, PCT, grief work, behavior issues at home and school and Gottman level 1 trained.
