About Loraime Van Tine, AMFT

Loraime Van Tine is a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT138102) with over one year of clinical experience. Loraime has worked with clients of different ages, ethnic backgrounds, and life experiences. She is dedicated to a collaborative and psychoeducational approach to therapy. Her theoretical approach is to always lead with curiosity, empathy, and respect. She believes therapy is a collaborative effort between the therapist and client, and is a valuable, life changing experience. Loraime uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Collaborative Therapy, among other approaches to help her clients reach their therapeutic goals.

Loraime was born in Puerto Rico and speaks Spanish and English fluently. She values culture and has a special appreciation for how culture affects her client’s personal experiences and perspectives. Loraime comes from a military family and was raised in different countries and states, finally setting in San Diego. Due to her personal affiliation with the military, Loraime is passionate about helping veterans and active-duty personnel, and their families.

Loraime received her Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Sciences in Psychology from San Diego State University. She received her Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapy as well as the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. She began her clinical experience working in a counseling center in an outpatient setting working with individuals seeking care for anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, gender-affirming care, LGBTQ+ related stressors, and several other mental health disorders.
